PRAYER AND THE 2003 (and beyond) CRISES (page in progress)
11/03/10 update: We apologize for
not keeping this “current” but it is far too much for us to handle at the
present. If you page through this you will see a bit of history in the making and
how has answered prayer.
We hope
you have acquired the habit of “praying the news”, i.e. prayerfully considering
the news you see and/or hear and praying as God’s Holy Spirit prompts you,
according to His will. Thank you. - Miles

Just think of the vast potential (largely untapped)

A Prayer
"O Heavenly Father, let me not 'curse,' but rather 'bless' others,
whether good or evil. Grant me the mercy, love and compassion to bless others,
even my enemies, by prayer rather than cursing them.
Our Gracious Father, I now pray
for those who persecute Christians and others. I ask that their eyes be opened
to the truth in Jesus Christ Your Son, and that they be forgiven and saved from
their sins. Let them know their twisted, warped, hateful, ungodly, destructive
minds and ways and let them 'repent and believe the gospel.'
Especially, now, I pray for the
murderers who are killing people in
Grant, O God, Christians everywhere
the grace and strength to endure hardships and persecution. Make each of us to
be faithful and effective witnesses, even unto death if needs be!
Thank You, Blessed Father. In
Jesus' name, for Your glory, and the benefit of mankind I pray. Amen."

The evil one, his followers, and
his "dupes" are on the rampage. We are at war spiritually and
culturally, and it's time for you (us) to wake up, take on the full armor of
God (Ephesians 6:10-18), and PRAY! Otherwise, you (we), along with the ungodly,
will perish! Pray as if your life depended on it, and be assured that IT DOES.
"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might." Be sure of your relationship with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ so that you
will know what and how to pray, and your prayers will be heard and answered.
It is high time for all sinners,
backsliders, lukewarm Christians, and intercessors to "lay aside every
weight and the sin that so easily besets you, seek God with all your heart, and
fully serve the Lord! As you (we) humble yourself (ourselves), and pray,
seeking His face, He will hear your (our) cries for forgiveness, forgive your
sin, and heal you (us) and our land. TODAY, let us harden not our hearts but
turn fully to Him. "Tomorrow" will be too late!

Praise God that Saddam Hussein was
captured! Pray fervently for his salvation. Pray that he will see Jesus the Christ in some of his captors, at
least, and have a hunger and thirst to know more about Jesus. Pray that he receive the Word of God in his own language (if he hasn't, already) and that he will
read it, be convicted of his sin, and repent. Would this not please God,

The well-known biblical
commentator, Matthew Henry, regarding Christ's words in John 17:9, "I pray
not for the world," states, "We that know not who are chosen, and who
are passed by, must pray for all men, 1 Tim. ii. 1, 4. While there is life,
there is hope, and room for prayer. See 1 Sam. xii. 23."
Pray also for other "enemies." Dare
we neglect to be obedient to the command of Christ, and yet claim Him as
Savior? Pray for me, for yourself, that God will
forgive us our sins of disobedience!

We praise God for many
Christians throughout the world who are praying for the gospel to reach
unreached people groups. If you are an intercessor with a heart for praying for
millions who are now in darkness we suggest that you read about the 10/40

terror of darkness that pervades those who know not Christ, is removed by Jesus
who is The Light of the World, terrorism in our world will lessen. Everywhere, and
more than anything else, hearts changed by the gospel is the world's greatest
need! Pray....and obey what God asks of you.

Praise God that
the Coalition forces are in Baghdad, as witnessed by the toppling of the statue
of Saddam Hussein this morning about 10:50 A. M. Frankly, I have a sense that
many of those loyal to Saddam are far from surrender and that a lot of danger
lies ahead for our military. Please continue to pray for the protection and safety of the
Coalition forces and that they will find favor in the eyes of all the Iraqis,
both civilian and otherwise. Praise God that many Iraqi soldiers have surrendered.
Pray that the rest will become disillusioned with their
lost cause and surrender. May they live to
learn about Jesus! Foremost of all, as we watch developments in the news, let
our attitude be, "Lord, teach us to pray." Requests and details are
too multitudinous to list. Let God's Holy Spirit guide us in the how and what
of our intercession. Romans 8:26-28 reminds us
"...The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself
maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he
that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he
maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know
that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are
the called according to his purpose."

Saturday A.M., March 29, 2003
Praise God for those who are
responding to God's call on their hearts! Pray that our military personnel will turn to God and find
salvation, courage, and strength. Pray that Saddam Hussein and all those who
are held captive by Satan (whoever and wherever they are) will have a change of
heart and either be saved or lose heart in their hopeless and lost causes of
murder, brutality, power, pleasure, comfort, and other things of temporal value
alone) and surrender to the appropriate One and ones. That will be a miracle indeed but the God
of Elijah still lives. Watch, pray, and praise without ceasing. Today the sound
of battle, but afterward the victor's cry!
Praise God that we know Him and
His power! As the battle for righteousness rages there will be casualties. We look
to Jesus and focus on Him and His awesome power! We hold to the promises of our
God and remember our God reigns! It is He who has the final word and that word
is GOOD! "Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!"
Whatever your calling, intercessor (prayer) or other warrior, let us keep on
target, knowing that victory is assured! Pray that the righteous will always be mindful of the many
scriptures that are encouraging and that they will take daily refuge in and
draw strength from the Living God, and not yield any ground to the enemy, for
"we are not ignorant of his devices" to dismay, discourage, distract,
frustate, and defeat.
Pray that the truth will get out
in spite of all the misinformation and ignorance that pervades our nation and
the world. Pray that ALL people will know and acknowledge the truth ("the
truth is in Jesus," and "Every knee shall bow, and every tongue
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!"). May the darkness of false religions
and cults be pierced by the "Light of the World," the Lord Jesus
Christ! "God is
not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to the knowledge
of the truth."
"Weeping may endure for a
night, but joy comes in the morning!"
Wednesday A.M., March 26, 2003
Praise God that His intercessors
are alive and well! Victory is first achieved in the "heavenlies." We
pray always for God's will to be done, in and on earth as it is in heaven.
"In earth," in my mind at least, means "in these earthen
vessels, us." As God dwells in us and does His will in us, His will can be
accomplished "on earth." Pray for God's chosen intercessors today, that they will be
protected, holy, faithful, courageous, and persevering, always "strong in
the Lord and in the power of His might!

thus far, that loss of life is minimal, in view of the scope of the war and

Praise God that advances
continue to be made toward the overthrow of the evil regime of Saddam Hussein. Pray that Saddam will leave or be dealt with
as God wills. About

Coalition forces. Pray
they will not resist the Coalition forces, as it will mean the loss of many lives.
The enemy forces, like their
leaders, are using deceit to lure Americans to their deaths. Pray that our military, from highest in command down to the ones
in the field of battle, will
have uncanny discernment and will see through their treacherous and murderous
schemes.
A few Americans have been taken
prisoners of war. Pray
they will be strong and courageous, as well as for their safe, healthy, and

Some Americans and British have

those who bear the grief of their loss.

As Christians what a privilege it is to
live in this present age! As our world faces crises of monumental proportions
we can have peace and personal assurance. Jesus has given His promises.
He told his disciples "Peace
I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I
unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John
14:27)
If you're not sure of your
relationship with God, we recommend that you visit "Are you looking for
something to believe in?" or "Knowing for
Sure".
It is important
that our relationship with God is right so that we have His peace, and confidence
that he will hear and answer our prayers. Sin and disobedience will separate us
from God.
In 1 John
3:21-24, the Bible says, "Beloved,
if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever
we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those
things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we
should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he
gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and
he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he
hath given us." (1 John 3:21-24)
May the powerful
truths contained in the above scripture really grip our hearts and minds as we
thoughtfully read and study them!
Prayer is basic to
living a Christian life. For those desiring to learn more about the general
dynamics of prayer we invite you to browse HERE. Be sure to
scroll down to view helps in praying for various groups.
However, there are
differing forms and levels of prayer. Intercessory prayer, interceding to God
for others, is among the higher levels. If you are urged or burdened to pray
for our nation, the world, and the crises we face, you'll find the links below
helpful.
God continues to raise up an
army of intercessors to pray strategic, focused prayer, that His will may be
accomplished. Those who obediently answer His call to intercession have the
privilege, responsibility, and joy of this service to God and others.
The
Ministry of Intercession, a poem written many years ago by Frances Ridley
Havergal, begins thus:
There is no holy service But
hath its secret bliss:
Yet, of all blessed ministries, Is one so dear as this?
The ministry that
cannot be A wondering seraph's dower,
Enduing mortal weakness With more than angel-power;
The ministry of purest love Uncrossed by any fear,
That bids us meet at the Master's feet And keeps us very near.
"...I
sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land,
that I should not destroy it, but I found none." Ezekiel 22:30
Perhaps God has
called or is calling you to intercession. Will you answer the call?
It is of utmost
importance to seek God's will as we pray. We are dependent on God to teach us
the how and what of prayer. The Holy Spirit's role in prayer is of vital
importance. "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we
know not what to pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of
God." (Romans 8:26-27)
As an intercessor
waits before the Lord, The Holy Spirit gives wisdom, knowledge, guidance, and
encouragement in prayer. We find it helpful to read the thoughts and prayers of
others. However, there is no substitute for time spent alone with God.
Scripture records that Jesus spent nights in prayer, conversing with His
Father. Through present media of Internet and e-mail we are bombarded with many
"prayers." We cannot allow ourselves to thoughtlessly get caught up
with "here a prayer, there a prayer, everywhere a prayer" and not set
aside definite times to spend alone with God, seeking his face. How much time?
As much as it takes. As you make your time available to Him, you will have His
assurance.
We have placed
some thought provoking links here which we hope will stir you up to pray for
the present crises we face in
(My apologies for such an incomplete updating of this page
